Symptom Analysis

Abdominal pain refers to pain in the abdomen caused by various pathologies affecting both intra-abdominal and extra-abdominal organs. As described in "Zheng Yin Mai Zhi," Volume Four: "Pain occurring below the stomach, around the navel, and above the pubic hairline is called abdominal pain." Abdominal pain can be classified into acute and chronic types, with a wide array of causes, including inflammation, tumors, bleeding, obstruction, perforation, trauma, and functional disorders.

Furthermore, abdominal pain is a subjective sensation. The nature and intensity of the pain are not only influenced by the condition and the degree of stimulation but also by neurological and psychological factors. That is, patients have varying sensitivities to painful stimuli, and the same pathological stimulus can cause abdominal pain of different natures, intensities, and durations in different patients or at different stages of the same patient's illness.

Depending on the location of the pain, moxibustion can be applied selectively and gently for targeted treatment.

Moxibustion Acupoint Selection

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes.   Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion.   The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)

Dietary Therapy Recipes:

1. Ginger Porridge
【Method】Ginger 15 grams (crushed), put into a bowl, add boiling porridge, cover and simmer for a while, season with salt before consumption.
【Applicable】Suitable for abdominal pain caused by internal obstruction of cold evil.

2. Honey Water
【Method】Rhubarb 15 grams, add boiling water 200 milliliters, soak for 15 minutes, add an appropriate amount of honey, drink as a tea.
【Applicable】Suitable for abdominal pain caused by damp-heat congestion.

3. Astragalus and High-quality Glutinous Rice Porridge
【Method】Astragalus 20 grams, high-quality ginger powder 6 grams (ground), glutinous rice 100 grams, brown sugar as desired. Cook the astragalus and glutinous rice until done, then add the high-quality ginger powder and brown sugar, cook for a short time, and take it warm.
【Applicable】Suitable for spleen-deficiency type of abdominal pain.
