Senile cataract is the most common type of acquired cataract, affecting individuals typically over the age of 40 to 50. The main symptoms include a gradual decrease in vision, blurred vision, photophobia, and a darkening of colors or double vision.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this condition is believed to be caused by the weakening of the body's essence with age, leading to a lack of nourishment for the lens. Applying moxibustion to specific acupoints can help to tonify Qi and nourish blood, enhance the function of the viscera, and thereby improve symptoms.
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.
(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
