Moxibustion Treatment

Gastroptosis

Symptom Analysis

Gastroptosis refers to a condition where the lower edge of the stomach reaches the pelvic cavity, and the lowest point of the gastric lesser curvature arc falls below the iliac crest line when standing.

Mild gastroptosis often has no symptoms, while moderate to severe cases frequently exhibit poor gastrointestinal motility and symptoms of indigestion.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, gastroptosis falls under the categories of "stomach pain" and "distention fullness." It is also associated with "sinking of vital energy." The main causes are inherent weakness of the spleen and stomach, or long-term improper diet, overwork, and fatigue that damage the spleen and stomach, leading to weak spleen qi, flabby muscles, and inability to support the body's position.

Moxibustion Acupoint Selection

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)

Life Tips

1. For the conditioning of gastroptosis, moxibustion has good effects, but it requires a longer duration of treatment. Participating in physical activities appropriately can exercise the abdominal muscles, enhance physical fitness, and strengthen gastrointestinal secretion and peristalsis, promoting appetite and improving digestion and absorption functions.

2. Patients with gastroptosis should regulate their diet with regular and measured meals, eating small amounts frequently, and chewing food thoroughly. They should moderate the intake of raw and cold foods, and their diet should be rich in protein and easily digestible. Avoid indigestible foods, such as deep-fried or pan-fried meats, cured meats, dried fish, rice cakes, and chives.

3. Dietary therapy recipe: Ginseng and Astragalus Mother Chicken Soup. 15 grams of red ginseng, 45 grams of astragalus, 500 grams of mother chicken meat, add an appropriate amount of water and a little salt, stew for 2 hours, and consume the soup and chicken meat in two portions in the morning and evening. Take once a week for its spleen-tonifying and stomach-benefiting effects.
