Step 1: Sit upright or lie prone.
Step 2: Determine the lower angle of the scapula when the upper arm hangs naturally against the chest wall.
Step 3: The vertebra where the line connecting the lower angles of the scapulae intersects with the posterior midline is the 7th thoracic vertebra.
Step 4: From the spinous process of the 7th thoracic vertebra, move vertically upward along the spinous processes for four vertebrae to reach the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra.
