Moxibustion Treatment

Varicose veins.

Symptom Analysis

Varicose veins refer to the condition where veins become tortuous and dilated due to factors such as blood stasis and weak venous walls. Varicose veins can occur in various parts of the body, such as hemorrhoids, which are a form of venous varices. Other clinically visible varicose veins include esophageal and gastric fundus varices, varicocele, and abdominal wall varices, among others. The most common site for varicose veins is the lower limbs. It is important to emphasize that varicose veins themselves may be a secondary manifestation of other pathologies, such as caval obstruction, and the underlying disease should be actively treated.

Moxibustion Acupoint Selection

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)

Life Tips

Active prevention should be taken:

1. People who are obese should lose weight. Although obesity is not a direct cause, the excessive force on the legs may lead to poor venous return and exacerbate venous dilation.

2. Those who engage in long-term heavy physical labor and those who stand for long periods should wear elastic stockings to keep the superficial veins in a compressed state.

3. Women should pay special attention to their legs during special periods such as menstruation and pregnancy. They should rest more often and regularly massage their legs to help with blood circulation and prevent varicose veins.
