Pertussis in children is a common disease that occurs at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, with affected children mostly under the age of 5. The disease initially resembles an upper respiratory infection, with symptoms such as low fever, cough, sneezing, and runny nose. After 2-3 days, the fever subsides, but the cough gradually worsens, especially at night. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the pathogenic factors of this disease are infection with dampness, viruses, evil qi invading the lungs, phlegm turbidity blocking the airways, and the lungs' inability to ventilate properly, leading to frequent coughing. Moxibustion can achieve the purpose of regulating qi, promoting lung ventilation, relieving asthma, and stopping cough. (Note: The following moxibustion methods are only for children over 2 years old)
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course. (If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
