Vulvar leukoplakia, also known as leukoplakia of the vulva or vulvar lichen, refers to localized or diffuse white patches that appear on the skin of the vulva, which can spread to the inner sides of the thighs, the perineum, and the anus. The symptoms include itching in the vulvar area, dry skin, thickening and whitening, loss of elasticity, and even atrophy and ulceration, accompanied by pain and a burning sensation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this condition is called "yin lichen" and is believed to be closely related to the liver, kidneys, and spleen. The pathogenesis is as follows: the liver meridian encircles the genital area and is in charge of storing blood; the kidneys govern reproduction and open into the two yin orifices; the spleen governs the muscles. Clinical manifestations can be divided into symptoms of deficiency and excess. The so-called deficiency refers to the loss of nourishment due to blood deficiency, leading to dryness and damage to the Chong and Ren meridians, causing the vulvar area to lose its nourishment or warmth; the so-called excess is due to the liver's stagnation affecting the spleen, with liver heat and spleen dampness, where dampness and heat invade each other, damaging the Chong and Ren meridians, leading to the vulvar area being affected by dampness and heat, thus causing this disease.
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course. (If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
1. Maintain cleanliness of underwear and undergarments; choose loose, soft, and preferably cotton fabrics for underwear to avoid wearing synthetic clothing directly against the skin. 2. Opt for a light diet rich in vitamins, including fresh vegetables and soy products. Refrain from smoking, drinking alcohol, and consuming spicy foods to maintain regular bowel movements.
