Urticaria is a localized edematous response caused by various allergens such as medications, food, pollen, and infections, which lead to the dilation of small blood vessels and increased permeability in the skin and mucous membranes. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is referred to as "hidden rash," "wind and itching hidden rash," and commonly known as "nettle rash" or "wind bumps."
TCM believes that the cause of this condition is due to a predisposition of intolerance, deficiency of qi and blood, and failure to consolidate the exterior; or invasion by evil winds, or accumulation of heat in the stomach and intestines due to spicy and greasy food, which is depressed in the skin, transforms into heat and generates wind, or is induced by various factors such as fish, shrimp, medications, and peculiar odors.
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.
(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
