Postpartum constipation refers to the condition where a woman, after giving birth, does not have a bowel movement for several days or experiences dry and painful bowel movements that are difficult to pass. It is one of the most common postpartum ailments. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this condition is believed to be caused by blood deficiency and intestinal dryness, yin deficiency with excessive fire, or deficiency of both qi and blood. Moxibustion on relevant acupoints can help to boost the body's yang energy, harmonize qi and blood, and regulate gastrointestinal function.
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course. (If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
1. Constipated postpartum women should eat more fiber-rich foods, such as sweet potatoes, whole grains, and green leafy vegetables like celery. 2. Consume more foods with high water content, such as pears that are rich in moisture. 3. Eat more foods rich in organic acids, such as yogurt, which can increase the content of lactic acid bacteria in the intestines, acidify the intestines, and thus have a laxative effect. 4.
