Moxibustion Treatment

Metrorrhagia.

Symptom Analysis

Women who experience sudden and heavy vaginal bleeding or continuous spotting outside of their menstrual period are said to have "metrorrhagia." Sudden bleeding with a rapid onset and a large volume is referred to as "collapse," also known as "collapse during the period"; continuous light bleeding with a slow onset and a smaller volume is referred to as "leakage," also known as "leakage during the period." These two conditions often alternate, hence the general term "metrorrhagia."

Etiology: The main cause of this condition is damage to the Chong and Ren meridians, which fail to consolidate, leading to menstrual blood flowing from the uterus at inappropriate times. Common causes include blood heat, blood stasis, kidney deficiency, and spleen deficiency. Heat damaging the Chong and Ren meridians forces blood to flow erratically; spleen qi deficiency leads to a lack of control; kidney yang deficiency results in a failure to seal and store; and blood stasis obstructs the flow, preventing blood from returning to the meridians, all of which can lead to the failure of the Chong and Ren to solidify.

Moxibustion Acupoint Selection

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)

Life Tips

When self-regulating, pay attention to nourishing when there is deficiency and clearing when there is heat.
