Gluteal Suprascapular Nerve Pain is a condition where the Gluteal Suprascapular Nerve is compressed or edematous, causing pain in the surrounding tissues. Clinical manifestations mainly include severe pain in the patient's buttocks, refusal to press, inability to bend over, and after lying down, the patient often lies on the healthy side, and in severe cases, the lower limbs cannot be abducted, internally rotated, flexed, or extended. There is muscle rigidity in the buttocks, with obvious tender points, which can occur unilaterally or bilaterally. This disease falls within the scope of "Bi Syndrome" in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The buttocks are invaded by the evil of cold and dampness. The coldness induces contraction, and the dampness is heavy and turbid, leading to poor circulation of Qi and blood in the buttocks, and the muscles and tendons of the buttocks lose the nourishment of Qi and blood, resulting in pain.
Qi and Blood Deficiency Type: Commonly seen in those with long-term illnesses, there is a dull ache in the buttocks, shortness of breath and reluctance to speak, fatigue and listlessness, a pale complexion; the tongue is pale with a white coating, and the pulse is thin.
Cold and Dampness Obstruction Type: The buttocks experience a cold, aching pain that worsens with cold and alleviates with warmth; the tongue is pale with a thin, white coating.
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course. (If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
1. Avoid exposure of the waist and buttocks to cold, wind, and dampness, and participate appropriately in various physical activities, taking care to protect the waist and the affected limb during activity. 2. Combine with local massage therapy. 3. Warm compress method: Take 1 jin (a Chinese unit of weight, approximately 0.5 kg) of table salt, wrap it in a cloth, and microwave it for 3 minutes, then apply the hot compress to the waist or buttocks area.
