Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the common diseases in middle-aged and elderly men, and its incidence is increasing with the aging of the global population. The incidence of prostate enlargement increases with age, but the presence of hyperplastic changes does not necessarily correlate with clinical symptoms. The incidence in urban areas is higher than in rural areas, and racial differences also affect the degree of hyperplasia.
Damp-heat accumulation type: Urine is red, short, and scalding, with even difficulty in passing drops, lower abdominal distension, bitter taste in the mouth, and thirst without desire to drink; the tongue is red, coated with yellow and greasy fur, and the pulse is deep and rapid.
Qi Descent Syndrome: Feeling of heaviness and distension in the lower abdomen, difficulty in passing urine, unsatisfactory urination, accompanied by fatigue, poor appetite, shortness of breath, and a weak voice; the tongue is pale and swollen, with a thin white coating, and the pulse is deep and fine.
Kidney Yang Deficiency Syndrome: Difficulty in urination or only a few drops, straining to pass urine, along with a pale complexion, timid spirit and weak energy, weakness in the waist and knees; the tongue is swollen, with a thin white coating, and the pulse is deep and fine.
It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course. (If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
1. Refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol, avoid spicy, fatty, and sweet foods, avoid excessive fatigue, and develop good routines and lifestyle habits. 2. Avoid sitting for long periods, ride bicycles less, and moderate sexual activity, which is beneficial for the recovery from prostatic hyperplasia.
