Moxibustion Treatment

Acute Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye, Photophobia, Epiphora)

Symptom Analysis

Acute conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is a general term for inflammatory reactions of the conjunctival tissue caused by external factors and the body's own conditions. This disease is more prevalent in the spring and is a seasonal infectious disease. It is mainly transmitted through contact, often by touching the secretions from a patient's eyes, shaking hands with an infected person, or rubbing one's eyes with dirty hands. If acute conjunctivitis occurs in populations with good hygiene conditions, it is caused by viruses, bacteria, or allergies.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this disease is referred to as "heavenly red eye," which is caused by external wind-heat toxins affecting the lung meridian and attacking the eyes. After suffering from this disease, there is photophobia, tearing, and a stabbing pain, and the eyes have thin secretions, eyelid swelling, which is very painful. Moxibustion can be used to regulate this condition, taking 3-4 acupoints each time, and pairing with other auxiliary acupoints according to the corresponding symptoms, to disperse wind, clear heat, and purge fire.

Moxibustion Acupoint Selection

Auxiliary Acupoint Selection

Symptom One: Head and eye pain.
Additional Acupoints: 【(LR-3) Supreme Rush Acupoint】
Symptom Two: Red eyes, headache.

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
