Moxibustion Treatment

Obesity-Related Fatty Liver Disease

Symptom Analysis

Obesity-related fatty liver patients often have no noticeable symptoms, or only experience mild fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal bloating, belching, and a feeling of fullness in the liver area.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, obesity-related fatty liver falls under the categories of "accumulation" and "phlegm-fluid." The pathophysiology is considered to be due to spleen deficiency, which fails to transform and transport water and grains properly, leading to the accumulation of fat in the liver, resulting in fatty liver.

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)

Life Tips

1. The conditioning of obesity-related fatty liver should primarily focus on adjusting the diet, with the basic principle of "one appropriate and two lows," which means appropriate protein intake and low sugar and low fat.

2. The use of clinical lipid-lowering drugs should be cautious, as these drugs may drive blood lipids to be more concentrated in the liver for metabolism, often leading to further damage to liver cells.

3. Dietary therapy recipe: Acorus and Curcuma Porridge. 12 grams each of Acorus tatarinowii and Curcuma zedoaria, 5 grams of processed Pinellia ternata, 50 grams of millet, and an appropriate amount of rock sugar. The first three ingredients are decocted in water, the residue is removed, and the juice is taken to cook the millet porridge. When the porridge is ready, add rock sugar for seasoning. Consume in appropriate amounts, suitable for obesity-related fatty liver of the phlegm-damp obstruction type.
