Moxibustion Treatment

Oral Ulcers (Canker Sores)

Symptom Analysis

Oral ulcers, also known as "canker sores," refer to shallow ulcers that occur on the oral mucosa, accompanied by a sensation of burning pain in the mouth.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this condition is believed to be caused by the accumulation of heat in the heart and spleen, the transformation of excessive heat into fire, a deficiency of true yin, and the upward inflammation of virtual fire. Some cases are due to a deficiency of both qi and blood, leading to a lack of nourishment for the oral mucosa.

Targeting the causes of the disease, moxibustion can be applied to 2-3 acupoints each time to clear heat and detoxify, reduce swelling and relieve pain. Additionally, different accompanying acupoints can be applied according to various symptoms to regulate this condition.

Treatment Course

It is recommended to perform moxibustion once a day, targeting 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being treated for 30 to 40 minutes. Rotate the points treated, with a 10-day period constituting one course of treatment, and then rest for 2 to 3 days before continuing with the next course.

(If time permits and there is a need, more acupoints can be treated with moxibustion. The specific duration should be adjusted according to one's own physical needs.)
